Sea Ray Cruising Club North West Year End Meeting Wrap Up
Stardate: October 23, 2004
Place: Lake Union Sea Ray
THANX TO LAKE UNION SEA RAY
The hospitality of the nice people at Lake Union can only be measured in huge
quantums. They not only make their show room available for our meeting, they
supplied a beautiful buffet of HDO's. Truly a good time was had by all.
For our members who didn't have the opportunity to attend the meeting WE MISSED
YOU. As always it's fun to see all our cruising friends even if it is on dry
land.
WHO couldn't notice the great packets handed out to the membership at the
meeting? They didn't drop out of the sky. Many thanx to Karen Ashley for hours
of hard work producing the documents and stuffing packets. It made this meeting
run smoother than ever before.
NEW BURGEES
Like we didn't need them. Most of our burgees flying or should I say faded,
drooping and tattered were in desperate need of replacement. Our burgee supply
had dwindled to a huge inventory of 2. Did we run it close or what? The burgee
committee has been at work on the design and there have been many. Many were
scrapped. The prime objective of the committee was to design a burgee that was
unique and could be viewed clearly at 100 yards.
The club reviewed the mock up of the new burgee; a majority vote was cast to
accept the new design. The order is going in and new burgees will be available
soon.
DUES
Since we have the expense of the new burgees a new dues amount was voted and
accepted for THIS YEAR ONLY. The dues for this year will be $100 this includes
your membership and a new burgee. Next year the dues will return to the usual
amount. Of course, your dues can be paid to Nancy Catalano at the Christmas
Party or by mail. Make checks payable to SRCCNW.
Nancy's address can be found in the roster.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Treasurers Report
Treasurer Nancy Catalano reviewed the printed report with the membership. For
those who couldn't attend and do want to see the report contact Nancy. We are
solvent if you are wondering. As our commodore Jim Hobbs said he would like to
have Nancy hold his check book. She is tenacious, she questions everything and
you don't get a penny unless you have a receipt. We love you NANCY.
Budget Report
As you review the cruise schedule you will find we have reduced the number of
cruises this season to 9 hosted cruises. By reducing the number of cruises we
can increase the allotment given to cruise captains. For the coming year the 3
day weekend cruise captain allotment will be increased to $300 and 4 day holiday
cruises increased to $400.
Website
Mark Daymond-webmaster
Surprise, there are a lot of people visiting our site. About 3,000 according to
Mark. To date we have over 500 pictures in our album.
Many thanx to Mark for making this valuable communication available to the club
and for the hours of time he puts in updating the site. As we discussed in the
year end meeting the website saves the club at least $1,500 in postage and
printing for the newsletter alone. That savings is passed on to the membership
in increased cruise allotments. Now we have a picture album that is ongoing.
Coming soon to the website. Jim Hobbs has volunteered to be the new TECHNICAL
OFFICER. He has an extensive mechanical background. There will be a venue
where members can present questions relating to mechanical issues with our Sea
Rays, Jim will research the problem and get back to the member with a solution.
Do we have it all or what!
NOTE BOARD
Discussion regarding a note board on the website for members to post info to the
general membership. This will work great for small groups getting together for
cruises that are not sponsored by the club.

THANX A BUNCH
A big thank you to our outgoing officers and congrats to the incoming slate. As
Jim Hobbs has said so often this is PLEASURE BOATING lets not turn it into
something else.
It is the goal of the officers to make each cruise a pleasure for every member.
What goes on behind the scenes to make this club function would surprise the
general membership. The officers and cruise captains are always there to take a
phone call or unsnarl slip reservations. These people spend countless hours on
the phone and email to ensure everything goes smoothly. As pleasure boating
becomes more popular every year, the challenge to find guest marina space for
our growing membership also grows. We average between 17 and 22 boats at
cruises. That number most definitely impacts small marinas.
ROSTER
All members attending the meeting were asked to review the roster and make
corrections so the roster will be accurate and up to date. You can view and
print the roster from the website. It does require a password. Call or email
any of the officers for the password.
If you find incorrect phone numbers or addresses please notify us as soon as
possible.
CRUISE CALENDAR FOR 2005

CHRISTMAS PARTY
December 18th
Jeff and Karen Ashley's
5002 Galleon Drive NE
Tacoma
Time: 6:00 P.m.
Parties at the Ashley's is always an event to behold but Christmas is special
beyond words. If you missed the "Festival of Trees" in your community don't
despair. You will be dazzled by Karen's private festival in her home. Jeff and
Karen's generosity and hospitality goes unrivaled.
If you need driving directions Mapquest works well or email Karen
Ashley626@aol.com
Small change in the venue this year. Gift exchange instead of one gift per
person will be changed to one gift per boat with a $20 minimum.
Since the side dish event was a little lopsided on the dessert side last year
Karen tells us she will be balancing the buffet. When you call to RSVP no later
than December 10th and you will WON'T YOU, be sure to tell Karen what category
of side dish you will be bringing.
Hopefully the burgee will be here in time for the Christmas Party. Bring your
check books so you can pay your dues and pick up your new burgee.
We have approximately 60 member boats. When you consider yacht clubs with
hundreds of members have a small fraction of the membership show up for cruises
and meetings, in this club routinely one third of our membership attend club
meetings and cruises, what an impressive turnout.
Thank you to all my boating friends for making SRCCNW the true boating club it
is.
Happy Cruising my friends,
Dave Parry
Vice Commodore
