Captains Log

Pleasant Harbor
Stardate August 13 - 15  2004

If ya weren't there words just can't explain.  The only thing missing from this Mexican Fiesta was a live mariachi band.  Our cruise captains Debi and Phil Freund of "Our Sweetheart" did an outstanding job of spoiling us.  Food, friends and libation flowed for the entire weekend.  We are still suspicious, Our Sweetheart is big enough to be a catering kitchen, is it?  The surprises that emerged from the galley were spectacular.

Pleasant Harbor is just that, very quiet and pleasant.  Not exactly how a livaboard in the marina depicted us to Charlie (not our Charlie) but the Pleasant Harbor dock guy.  Busted again for too much fun after dark.  Go figure the Ashley's weren't even there, now who do we blame for after dark raucous behavior.  We're just going to have to work on our finger pointing, there  has to be somebody deserving.  In this club it's one for all and all for one, and as usual we are usually all part of the fun.

All in all the group was very quiet and subdued for the weekend.  Augie was wearing his glasses giving way to suspicions he had too much fun, no so he really had an honest to goodness eye infection.  How many times has that been used in the past for another diagnosis (Jeff Ashley Morning).

A quick meeting on the dock reviewed new burgee designs.  The burgee committee has changed somewhat since Shirl Gilbert is now residing on the east coast.  The new design is very clean and easily visible on the water.  Trust me, I know I've said that before but really the design is going to be great.

Of course Hood Canal is known for its oysters and there was a minus tide on Saturday morning with the help of Leigh Bauer we procured enough oysters for shooters and fried oysters for Sunday lunch.  Unfortunately Leigh and Annette had to leave early and missed the fruits of his labors.  I offered to send some home so they could cook them later. Annette very nicely told me NO--- HELL NO!  I guess we take it she isn't a fan of the little gray slippery things, cooked or not.

The Freunds Phil and Debi (don't know how they did it but they put this cruise on as well as having most of their extended family on the boat at one time or another.)  Weren't sure if Our Sweetheart was a catering ship or bed and breakfast.

Start packing the boat the next cruise is to Poulsbo, August 27-29, sponsored by Lake Union Sea Ray.  Judging the antics from past years I will have plenty of copy for the next Captains Log.

Happy cruising my friends,

Vice Commodore
