Lake Union Sea Ray Annual Rendezvous

Our friends at Lake Union Sea Ray always plan a great bash!  This event brings Sea Rays from near and far.

Joel and Michelle the Sea Ray event planners extraordinaire executed a great cruise.  From HDO's and martinis by the Blow Fish to coffee and pastry in the morning.  We were to say the least pampered.

THANK YOU   JOEL AND MICHELLE FROM ALL OF US

Our HDO potluck was a great surprise, as always the culinary abilities of our members is impressive.

Lake Union Sea Ray always brings a little something to drool over.  This time it was the new 340 and 420.  They are always happy to accommodate drooling and follow up with the onsite sales manager Bob Walker and a floating sales force.  Over the years we have all become great friends, the only problem is our cruising season is their busy season, we just don't get to see enough of them.

Poulsbo is a great destination and the weather on Sunday was stellar.  Waters calm and Mt. Rainier was in clear view.

New Member applications were flying around as Sea Ray owners, who haven't experienced the, no holds barred, unabashed totally over the top fun we have in this club, became new members.  The next log will have an update of our new friends.

Stealth and delta force are names that CANNOT be bestowed on the rag tag boat moving pack of clowns who participated in moving boats while their owners slept, well some of them.  Some degree of success was attained.  The clowns succeeded in moving one boat as the crew slept, the other two captains were awakened by, stumbling, fumbling and muffled laughing.

Some of the members are getting wise to this pack of roaming boat movers.  Just imagine leaving your GPS on with the anchor alarm set at 6" while tied to the dock, not a bad idea with this group.  I actually saw a couple of locks and cables.  Very smart folks.

Fred Majewski is a very happy man.  He no longer has the Rubber Duck Trophy aboard.  I on the other hand am a little embarrassed as to how I received the thing.  How does a Zodiac tip over?  I'm still somewhat puzzled over the whole thing.  Of course there were witnesses, lots of them.  My thanx to Leigh and Annette Bauer on the HORSIN AROUND with their guests Randy and Andy who hauled my sorry self out of the drink and righted my capsized craft.

All joking aside I am truly impressed with the performance of my automatic SOSpenders.  If you don't wear life preservers because they are hot and bulky seriously consider these.  They are very light and easy to wear.  About 2 seconds after entering the water it inflates, boy does it inflate; there is no way you could get your head in the water with that around your neck and upper body.  Thumbs up to SOSpenders.

Mark and Suzanne Daymond with family guests aboard Mark's mom and dad and brother Craig were along to be part of the mayhem.  Mark and Suzanne have finally come to agreement on the name of their new 480.  The new Mad Dogs & Englishmen was christened by the club in the usual manner, sinking the swim step.  Did ya know!  It takes 58 people in the cockpit and along the walk around the put the swim step under.

The shopkeepers in Poulsbo are always happy to see the Sea Rays come to Liberty Bay.  There was a constant parade of shopping bags arriving on the dock, proof positive we left some green stuff behind.

Our evening cocktail discussions are always interesting.  By morning you know your friends just a little better.  Big surprise this weekend though.  We have always been told Jeff Ashley "Astair" does NOT dance.  Karen said she had to bribe him to drag him around the dance floor at their wedding reception.  Maybe it was the music, maybe the libation or maybe the women, BUT Jeff was on the dance floor actually dancing, with, NOT KAREN.  Karen is already grooming a new captain, maintenance supervisor and cabin boy for La Dolce Vita.  I wonder if this one dances?

It will be a short week before we leave for the San Juans and Deer Harbor our next cruise September 3-6.  Hope to see you then.

Happy cruising my friends.

Vice Commodore
