Captains Log

Stardate December 18, 2004

This will probably be the shortest captain's log in history.  The last official event of SRCCNW in 2004 was the annual Christmas party, hosted by Jeff and Karen Ashley.

How do you say thanx enough to the Ashleys for offering their home and hospitality for the gala event?  Karen (aka Deco Diva) always outdoes herself for the holidays, any holiday as far as that goes.  She says she decreased the number of Christmas trees from 45 to 30 something.  I for one didn't see any blank spaces in the Ashley home.  Christmas touched literally every nook and cranny.  The evening at the Ashleys was magical.  THANX JEFF AND KAREN!!!!!

The Christmas party was the official unveiling of the new burgee.  If you have paid your dues for the coming year, you have a new burgee.  If you haven't paid your dues please contact Nancy Catalano she will be happy to take your $$ and give you a new burgee.  The new design is bright and easily spotted from a distance, very cool, thanx burgee committee.

The change in the gift exchange to one gift per boat was a howling success.  It will be the new tradition in the club.

I am always warmed by the great participation we have in any of the SRCCNW events.  We have 60+- member boats in the club, 27 of those boats were represented at the party, 52 members in all.  Our participation is over and above any yacht or boating club I know of.  Good show!

When this group gets together at a cruise there is always a number of events worthy of a great jab from this old salt.  Of course, the party doesn't begin until the lines are fast and the engines are shut down.  The mood with this group is entirely different on land.  There was definite split in the group the "designated drivers and the party animals".  The designated drivers were pretty much not worthy of comment, but the party animals, well lets just say what goes on at the party stays at the party.

Happy winter cruising my friends.  See you at the first cruise of 2005 at Brownsville with Bob and Heidi Vettleson.

OLD SALT SEZ  during cold winter weather keep your dinghy pumped up to full pressure.

Happy cruising my friends,
